Dr Haiping Tan

Haiping joined ARCPOH in September 2007 from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and holds the position of Lecturer in Geriatric Dentistry.

She has a Bachelor degree in Dentistry and a Master degree in Endodontics from Wuhan University, China and a PhD degree in Geriatric Oral Health from HKU. Her PhD work focussed on a 3-year oral health promotion project for older adults in 21 nursing homes in Hong Kong. In 2006 she won 2 international research awards and one prize from HKU. She was also active in undergraduate teaching and dental practice in the area of Geriatric Oral Health.

She is currently involved in the evaluation of both the “Better Oral Health in Residential Care” project and the “Northern Aged Care” project, working with Prof. John Spencer. To lift the profile of Geriatric Dentistry in the undergraduate course, she is undertaking the teaching of Geriatric Dentistry to both BDS and BOH students at the University of Adelaide.
